January 2015 -- Birds and Branches

Today while we were setting our Sunday table,
I realized I love to use bird & branches in January.

Just a few days ago I picked up my little guy from school for a lunch date,
and we saw an enormous bald eagle watching over our neighborhood.
I think I love January because the trees are a little vulnerable without their leaves.
 The bare branches mean that spring is soon to come again.
The the birds, they can't hide in the leaves of trees,
so we see them easily.
And aren't they beautiful?
I love to use this Chickadee dinnerware by Kate Williams in January.
I also love to use these Winter Song {Lenox} plates in January.
I think they are meant to be Christmas dishes, but they are my favorite dishes to
use in the quiet months of January & February.

My girls helped me this afternoon to set our birds & branches table for tomorrow --
blue and gray dinnerware,
a blue plaid tablecloth,
white trees wrapped in burlap,
silver birds,
and some fun birch candle holders.

It feels perfect for January.

I love this time of year for the quiet that it brings,
and the opportunity to hibernate a bit.

December Table -- Christmas in the Kitchen 2014

This year we decorate our kitchen in red & aqua.
{The fun plates are from Hobby Lobby 50% off.}
We pulled out a lot of things from our stash, but the dishes we found this year
at Hobby Lobby.   {We love all things retro, so these were a fun addition to our holiday!}

There are 4 different patterns --
a santa, a snowman, a reindeer, and an elf.
We were able to find two of each.

The truck hauling the bottlebrush tree is one from our truck/tree collection.
They usually sit on a shelf in our powder room, but we've used them a few
times in tabletop decorating this year.

The salt/pepper set are my favorite.
The butter dish gift is always out during the holidays.

Last year we hung ornaments in the kitchen over our windows.
My girls loved it, so we decided to do it again this year.

A Sunday Table in November

I love this month of giving thanks!

Here is our first Sunday table of November.
{I love the chalkboard quote that I found on Pinterest.}
--
"Inhale love,
Exhale gratitude."

Simple centerpiece.
{Still looking for a huge thrifted turkey -- a turkey tureen would be the jackpot!}

White scollop dishes -- Nicole Miller
Turkey bowls -- Celebration by Spode

The chairback pockets are from Pottery Barn [many moons ago].
A place to tuck notes {and things we are thankful for}
during the month of November.

 I was looking through some of my photos trying to find
any November tables set in 2013, and I couldn't find any.
I thought it was so strange that I didn't have photos,
or blog posts, or memory of any tables.
Then I remembered I broke my foot last November,
and not much happened the entire month!
{I probably never set the table at all!}

Anyhow, after reliving that memory,
today I am feeling especially thankful for health and healing!
The two collages below are from tables set in November 2012 before
I started keeping track of my tables at A Sunday Table.

Halloween Table

One last October table...Happy Halloween!

The damask plates are several years old.
I bought them on clearance from Pottery Barn when we were living in Mississippi.
I've been hoping to find two of these Halloween plates to add to my collection all season.
But no luck, until today!
2 black/white Halloween plates at Hobby Lobby -- found a purchased!
A spider and a pumpkin plate to add to my collection for next year.

So excited!!!!!!
