February Recap

We hosted a brunch for a school Sweetheart dance.
Crêpes and fruit salad.

We had our family Mardi Gras dinner with everyone that was home.
{We made our traditional king cake again this year, and it was delicious!}

The most fun was welcoming home our new puppy Missi on Valentine's Day.
She was the reason behind our impulse puppy plate purchase!
I think we'll use them to celebrate her each year!
She was born on December 20th and is such a joy (and a lot of hard work)!

Family Sweetheart Dinner 2018

My cute teen folded the napkins this year -- alternating red and pink.

These fun 'love is in the air' plates are from Pier One.

The velvet candy boxes are from my favorite local antique stop.

I love old candy boxes...espeically with graphics.
{The box on the backside of the table has a victorian couple embossed on it.}

Prepping for Family Valentine's Dinner

Our family Valentine's Dinner from a few years back.
{We usually have this meal the Sunday before Valentine's Day.
It just depends on what our couple/family plans are for the evening.}

Our 2017 Family Dinner.

I love this napkin fold for Valentine's Day.
This was our table a couple of years ago.

Tables of 2017

Hoping to be better at documenting our pretty table in 2018.

Our 4th of July breakfast was a favorite -- but few photos to prove it.

Our Back-to-School dinner is always a favorite.

Lemons/Lemonade theme this year.

Oven chowder for Halloween and a table set with our favorite spooky dishes.
 (Halloween Moon by Williams Sonoma)

Not a single December holiday table to share --
There's a goal for 2018!

Back-to-School 2014, 2015, and 2016

I posted our 2017 back-to-school dinner a couple of days ago.
That got me thinking about our previous dinners.
Looks like the last few back-to-school dinners have been outside.

2015 was about being part of the good in the world.
{We usually recap our favorite summer memories and pick a word for the school year.}

In 2014 we also did a recap of our summer memories.
We talked about using all the colors in the crayon box.
Basically making your life as wonderful (colorful/FULL) as you can imagine.

2016 we talked about  being yourself & writing your life story.
Write well.
Edit often.

Back-to-School Family Dinner Completed

I love our family traditions and how they've grown.

The cafeteria trays I usually use for our back-to-school dinners.

Here are a few pictures as I was setting things up -- lots of blue and yellow.

The theme this year was lemon related (obviously).

We talked about how we will all experience lemons in life.
We can't control what we are given.
We can control how we respond.

Each little item in the buckets represented something about the new year.

We talked about --
being loving and kind
how to work towards goals and dreams
 {no pearl without some grit}
teamwork and minds working together

Lemon bars and cupcakes topped with lemon curd frosting for dessert.

I also sprinkled lemon drops on the table right before dinner.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy start back to school!

Cafeteria trays -- Sur La Table (many years ago)
Glasses and pitcher -- TJMaxx (a couple years back)
Napkins -- Pier One (last spring)
Lemons and birdcage-- Hobby Lobby (several years ago)
Lemonade sign -- Etsy
Lemonade placements, buckets, and tablecloth -- Target (this year)
